Veteran owned & operated Transit & fleet technology installation

Fleet technology,
installed right.

Black Forest Installations is the field crew behind onboard transit and fleet technology rollouts. We install, wire and commission hardware from Clever Devices (a Hitachi Rail company) and Velociti, so your vehicles go back into service on schedule and your systems work on day one.

What we install

Onboard, in the yard and in the building.

From a single pilot bus to a fleet-wide refresh, our crews handle the hardware side of transit ITS and fleet telematics programs: mounting, power, harnessing, antennas, cabling and the commissioning that proves it all works.

Onboard transit ITS

CAD/AVL vehicle logic units, mobile data terminals, GPS and cellular antennas, automatic passenger counters, automated voice annunciation and interior/exterior signs on bus and paratransit vehicles.

Fleet telematics & ELD

GPS tracking units, electronic logging devices and tablet mounts, driver-facing and road-facing cameras, sensor harnesses and clean power and ignition taps for trucks, vans and equipment.

Video, safety & connectivity

Multi-camera DVR systems, onboard Wi-Fi and cellular routers, antenna arrays and the cabling between them, routed and secured to survive years of vibration and washes.

Retrofits & tech refresh

Swap-outs of legacy units, harness rework, relocation of equipment during vehicle mid-life overhauls, and documented decommissioning of the hardware that comes off.

Depot & yard infrastructure

Wireless access points, yard-management readers, structured cabling and low-voltage work in garages, maintenance bays and dispatch offices that the vehicle systems depend on.

Commissioning & QA

Power-up, configuration verification, functional testing against the partner platform, punch-list closeout and per-vehicle photo records so every unit is proven before it leaves our hands.

Our partners

Built around our partners' hardware.

We are an independent installation contractor. Our leads know the equipment, the mounting standards and the commissioning procedures our partners expect, which keeps rollouts moving and support calls rare.

Public transit ITS

Clever Devices a Hitachi Rail company

Intelligent transportation systems for bus, rail and paratransit agencies: CAD/AVL, onboard vehicle networks, real-time passenger information, automated announcements and passenger counting.

What we do: install and commission Clever Devices onboard hardware and the antennas, harnessing and peripherals that go with it, from pilot vehicles through full-fleet deployment.

01

Discipline

Same harness routing, same labeling, same photos, from vehicle one to vehicle five hundred.

02

Accountability

A named lead on every project, a daily count of vehicles completed and a clean punch list at the end.

03

Respect

For the vehicle, the agency's schedule, our partners' standards and the people doing the work.

How a rollout works

Five steps from site survey to sign-off.

  1. Survey

Site walk, sample vehicles, power and mounting plan, and a materials list agreed with you and the technology partner.

  2. Plan

Pilot vehicles, a schedule built around pull-outs and service, kitting and staging so nothing waits on parts.

  3. Install

Trained crews, standardized harnessing, labeled connections and mounts that meet the partner's specification.

  4. Commission

Power-up, configuration check, functional test against the platform, and sign-off with photos and serial numbers.

  5. Support

Punch-list closeout, warranty swaps, as-built documentation and planning for the next tech refresh.

Why Black Forest

What agencies and fleet managers get from us.

Schedule-safe

We work around your service day, not the other way round. Night and weekend installs keep revenue vehicles on the road.

Fleet-scale consistency

Every vehicle gets the same routing, labeling and photo record, so your maintenance team knows exactly what to expect.

Partner-aligned

Our leads know Clever Devices and Velociti hardware and commissioning procedures, which means fewer callbacks and faster acceptance.

Clean handoff

Each vehicle leaves with a completed checklist, photos and a serial map. Your asset records are right the first time.
